The Travel SLX is a wolf in sheep's clothing. After all, it looks so minimalist. Appearances are deceptive, because the Shimano Alfine rear hub hides eleven gears, driven by a Gates belt. The perfect low-maintenance combination; if the belt is dirty, you can simply spray some water over it. The Shimano Deore disc brakes are at least as reliable; even in pouring rain, they offer plenty of braking power. Practical finishing touches include a front fork with lowrider bosses, hub dynamo lighting, comfortable grips and, last but not least, a stable rear stand. Fancy a ride?
CUBE TRAVEL EXC
The Travel EXC not only looks dynamic, it is. With its low-maintenance gear hub and drive belt, light wheels and fast 37-millimetre rubbers, this is a bike for riders who would rather spend their time clocking up the miles than cleaning and lubricating a chain. At the rear, we have mounted a sturdy carrier and stand, the aluminium front fork offers space for a low-rider if required and a hub dynamo powers the lighting. The minimalist Travel Pro is a bike that you quickly underestimate. Appearances can be deceiving! The front wheel houses a hub dynamo and the rear hub hides eight gears, completely weatherproof. The same goes for the drive belt. It lasts longer than a chain and is also clean and quiet. The disc brakes are also weatherproof. Also nice: the voluminous tires, which offer more comfort, grip and traction. And the best part: they roll even lighter!
