HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT BICYCLE FRAME?

When choosing a new CUBE bike, the type of frame plays an important role that not only affects your riding experience, but also the comfort. There are different types of bicycle frames. Where in the past a distinction was mainly made between a men's and women's frame, nowadays there are additional frame options, such as the trapeze frame or the easy entry. In this blog we discuss the different types of frames, the features and benefits, so that we can help you make the right choice.

Men's frame

The men's frame, which is on the traditional men's bike, consists of a horizontal bar between the saddle and the handlebars. This frame has several advantages:

  • Stability and strength: The straight top tube provides a more solid construction. Because the frame has a triangular shape, it offers more stability.
  • Sporty look: The classic design exudes a traditional and sporty look.

At CUBE, this frame is not provided with an additional designation in the model name. If there is no additional letter in the size options, this means that it is the men's model.

Example men's model:

The CUBE Kathmandu Hybrid Pro 800 is a powerful e-bike for adventure riders who want to ride both on and off-road.

Trapeze frame (T)

The trapeze frame (T), also known as the medium high entry frame, is the middle way between the men's and women's frame. Features are:

  • Slant bar: The top tube slopes from the handlebars to just below the saddle, making it easier to get on and off the bike.
  • Stable and versatile: This frame combines the strength of a men's frame with the convenience of a lower step-through, ideal for cyclists who value flexibility.

The trapeze frame is popular with both men and women who are looking for a mix of comfort, sturdiness and design.

Example trapeze model:

The CUBE Touring Hybrid Pro 625 is an e-bike with trapeze entry, ideal for everyday use and comfortable rides in the city or nature.

Easy Entry Frame (EE)

An Easy Entry frame (EE) is the most accessible bicycle frame available. The step-through is very low, making it easy to get on. This frame is often chosen by people who need or want extra comfort, such as the elderly or people with limited mobility.

Features of an easy entry frame:

  • Very low step-through: You can easily get on and off without having to lift your leg high.
  • No top tube: This allows you to virtually step through the frame.

Example easy entry model:

The CUBE Supreme Hybrid Comfort One 500 combines a sporty design with the convenience of a low entry.

Which frame choice suits you?

When choosing the right frame it is important to consider your needs and the cycling adventure you are about to embark on. Consider the following points:

  • Mobility and flexibility: Do you have trouble getting on and off? Then a bike with a low step-through offers you the most comfort.
  • Your cycling adventures: A different frame is suitable for each type of ride. Are you going to ride sporty or off-road? Then a men's frame or trapeze frame is suitable because of the extra sturdiness. Do you mainly ride through the city or nature or do you have limited mobility? Then an Easy Entry frame is ideal.
  • Bike design: Your personal taste also plays a role; each frame has a different design.
